I'm Paul and as you've gathered from our homepage, I'm English and the unfortunate father of this family (only joking, love them really). I herald from the seaside resort of Southport which is famous for the sea that never comes in and have been living in Germany for the past 13 years.

I was born on the 21st June 1962 (44) and my only claim to fame is that John Lennon congratulated my parents when I was christened.  He should have congratulated my Mother on my birth, "it's been a hard days night" and all that. Apparently I took 24hrs to pop out. This fact my Mother thought necessary to remind me of now and then, usually followed with "just you wait till your Father gets home" and punctuated with a slap across the head.

I lived in various places in and around Southport and joined the British Army at 16 in 1978. With the army I saw various parts of the world, one of them being  Berlin in 1981 where I met my wife, Andrea. We married in April 1982 and Sebastian was born the following December; 4 years later in 1986 Benjamin decided to join us. After various tours of Northern Ireland, selected for commission and fighting in the Gulf War, I decided to leave the army and try my chances in the grown-up world.

I (we) demobbed in October 1993 and moved in with Andreas' uncle in Mölln (spoke mow-lln) near Hamburg with the plan to inherit the house once he snuffed it (he's still alive at 95). That didn't work out, so we moved house in 1994. In early 1996 I was offered the job as Course Manager at Golfclub Schloss Weitenburg, a golf course down the road from where we now live in Rottenburg-Obernau. I worked there for 6 years and In 2002 was headhunted by a Dutch golf supply firm to setup a new greenkeeping division. Due to a multitude of reasons (like them not paying me and lack of funds) we parted company in the October of that year, so I decided to go it alone and set up my own company, ICM.

As my photographic work started to take over and demand more and more time than I could afford to keep ICM going, I decided to fold the company and concentrate on making a career out of photography.

I am now a full time freelance photographer scraping a living with various commissions in industry, special events, landscapes and generally anything that pays. I have also had a number of very successful local exhibitions showing our local area.

My life times ambition though is to be a war photographer (photojournalist) and would gladly drop everything to pursue this goal. I would also like to do some NPO (Non-profit organization) work and give a little back to the world community and at the same time ask the question WHY?. So if there are any publishers, editors, agents or NPO's out there that needs a foolhardy idiot Englander, then get in touch.

My main hobbies are: Golf (naturally); Motorbikes and racing them; Photography, skiing and  reading.

My favourite quote is: "Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather skidding sideways, Chardonnay in one hand, strawberries in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming, WOO HOO! What a Ride!"

Motorcycle Travel, Motorcycle Touring, Motorcycle Routes, Motorcycle Roads from BestBikingRoads.com

This album includes pictures of the Durmersheim bikers France Tour between 2003 & 2005. We meet every year round about June (unfortunately I missed it this year) and ride to a camping site in France. From there we tour the mountain area of Alsace. Very twisty and a good time is usually had by all - Except Freddy who likes to ride in the ditches.
